چکیده

This review will first cover the researches done in determining KNOX family gene functions and mechanisms. Followed by phylogenetically, how KNOX family proteins expressed differently in different species functioned differently, and the differences between single leaved and compound leaved species. Onto the significance of different expression pattern of KNOX genes in developing tomato compound leaves, and significance of Let6/Tkn2 protein function. Genetic experimental results will link Let6 with PHANTASTICA, SERRATE, and some others. Then suggest future research direction for further elucidate Let6 role in compound leaf development.

The mutant crispa reveals multiple roles for PHANTASTICA in pea compound leaf development.

Pinnate compound leaves have laminae called leaflets distributed at intervals along an axis, the rachis, whereas simple leaves have a single lamina. In simple- and compound-leaved species, the PHANTASTICA (PHAN) gene is required for lamina formation. Antirrhinum majus mutants lacking a functional gene develop abaxialized, bladeless adult leaves. Transgenic downregulation of PHAN in the compound...

Reduced leaf complexity in tomato wiry mutants suggests a role for PHAN and KNOX genes in generating compound leaves.

Recent work on species with simple leaves suggests that the juxtaposition of abaxial (lower) and adaxial (upper) cell fates (dorsiventrality) in leaf primordia is necessary for lamina outgrowth. However, how leaf dorsiventral symmetry affects leaflet formation in species with compound leaves is largely unknown. In four non-allelic dorsiventrality-defective mutants in tomato, wiry, wiry3, wiry4 ...

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Krantz) genome harbors KNOX genes differentially expressed during storage root development.

In plants, homeodomain proteins play a critical role in regulating various aspects of plant growth and development. KNOX proteins are members of the homeodomain protein family. The KNOX transcription factors have been reported from Arabidopsis, rice, and other higher plants. The recent publication of the draft genome sequence of cassava (Manihot esculenta Krantz) has allowed a genome-wide searc...

A gene fusion at a homeobox locus: alterations in leaf shape and implications for morphological evolution.

Compound leaves are seen in many angiosperm genera and are thought to be either fundamentally different from simple leaves or elaborations of simple leaves. The knotted1-like homeobox (knox) genes are known to regulate plant development. When overexpressed in homologous or heterologous species, this family of genes can cause changes in leaf morphology, including excessive leaf compounding in to...
